Technical Services FAQs

1. Why Is My Heavy Diesel Equipment Losing Power?

Heavy diesel equipment loses power when the engine cannot deliver the fuel, air, or boost pressure required to operate efficiently. Common causes include blocked fuel filters, injector faults, turbocharger failures, air intake restrictions, and sensor issues. Diagnostic testing identifies the exact fault and prevents unnecessary parts replacement.

Heavy equipment overheats when the cooling system cannot remove engine heat effectively. The most common causes are coolant leaks, blocked radiators, failed water pumps, faulty thermostats, and cooling fan failures. Continuing to operate an overheating machine can result in severe engine damage.

Black smoke indicates incomplete fuel combustion. This is caused by faulty injectors, turbocharger issues, restricted airflow, or fuel system faults. Excessive black smoke reduces fuel efficiency and signals an underlying engine performance problem.

Hydraulic systems fail because of contamination, component wear, overheating, or pressure loss. Damaged hoses, leaking seals, worn pumps, and contaminated hydraulic oil are the most common causes. Early repairs help prevent expensive component failures and downtime.

Fault codes appear when the machine detects an issue affecting performance or operation. Common causes include sensor failures, wiring faults, injector problems, low system pressures, and ECU communication errors. The root cause must be repaired before the fault code can be permanently cleared.

Heavy equipment usually fails to start because of a fuel delivery, battery, or electrical system fault. Flat batteries, starter motor failures, blocked fuel filters, fuel contamination, and wiring issues are the most common causes. Professional diagnostics identify the fault quickly and accurately.

A diesel engine requires an overhaul when internal wear affects reliability and performance. Signs include excessive oil consumption, low compression, blow-by, persistent power loss, and bearing wear. An overhaul restores engine performance and extends service life.
